National Redress Scheme

The National Redress Scheme for Survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (the National Redress Scheme) was established in response to recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Through the NSW Government’s membership of the National Redress Scheme, we help those who have experienced abuse in connection with a NSW government institution.

It is estimated that around 60,000 people have experienced institutional child sexual abuse in Australia.

The National Redress Scheme can provide eligible abuse survivors with:

The National Redress Scheme began on 1 July 2018 and will run for 10 years. Applications can be made any time before 30 June 2027.
